From the RV Bookstore Great reading for RVers headed to Alaska and Western Canada A Guide to the Alcan and other Wilderness Roads of the North THIS BOOK IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE By the editors We like this book a lot and recommend it for anyone headed to Alaska by RV. It's a wonderful accompaniment to Milepost, the mile-by-mile guide to the Alaska Highway, and the home video Alaska By RV. Our recommendation is to use this informative and entertaining book for research before heading off on your journey. You will have a very good sense of what to expect during your journey after finishing it. And pack it along, too, for the trip. Through text and color photos, the author, an RVer herself, discusses historic sites; roadside attractions; best places for dramatic views (and photos); wildlife sighting areas and recreational opportunities including hiking, biking, fishing, rafting, camping, festivals, rodeos, parades, races, museums, etc. She also covers RV travel in particular, offering pointers about preparation. The book also offers practical money-saving, comfort enhancing advice on preparing your vehicle, roadway considerations and routes, as well as up-to-date contact numbers and websites for cities throughout the region and serviced by the Alaska Highway. Information about towns along the Alaska Highway and other wilderness roads is provided, with information about traditional lodging, campgrounds and places to dine. Author Tricia Brown is a former editor of Alaska Magazine as well as other books about Alaska. WE ALSO RECOMMEND Alaska By RV Home Video |
